Mauritian Dhal



  • 170 grams Channa Dhal
  • 1/2 liter water
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic and ginger crushed
  • 1/2 tablespoon tumeric powder
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons oil cooking
  • coriander chopped


Dhal or Dholl is always served with rice.  Some protein is always good for ourselves.

Add water, tumeric and Dhal in a pressure cooker and cook for about 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan and fry chopped onions till golden, then add crushed garlic and ginger.
Add all ingredients to dhall and cook for another 5 minutes.
Sprinkle chopped coriander on the top and salt to taste.
